Sidewalk sales take over downtown Grand Haven

It was a bargain hunter's paradise in downtown Grand Haven, as Washington Avenue was filled with shoppers looking for the best deal during the Grand Haven Annual Sidewalk Sale on Saturday. Washington Avenue from Harbor Drive to Third Street was filled with both bargains and bargain hunters during this year's sale. The sale not only featured businesses from downtown, Centertown and Grand Landing, but also Chinook Pier.

George Boyle, who was helping run the Celtic Seasons booth for his sister, said that the sales were running good on both Friday and Saturday morning.

“Starting out yesterday, we got here about 10 o’clock," he said Saturday, "and it was a pretty decent crowd. Then, from about noon to two or three, it was really busy. And today it is picking up like yesterday, so it's working out pretty good.”

Boyle said he was selling a lot of his merchandise — ranging from Celtic items to jewelry, walking sticks, magnets and windsocks.

“It’s been going pretty good. We closed up at 8:30 last night,” Boyle said. “And it worked out pretty well.”
