Open house for Holland youth dance classes is Saturday

The Holland Area Arts Council will host a free open house for its Youth Dance Company from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. Arye Shannon-Carmichael will be introduced as the program's director. She will give examples of steps and movements the kids will learn during the classes. An early registration discount of $10 will be applied that day only and can even be combined with the sibling discount of $10 per semester.

Shannon-Carmichael earned a dance education degree at Hope College and has been dancing since she was 11 years old in various disciplines such as tap, jazz, ballet, modern, lyrical and Irish step dancing. She uses national dance standards for her curriculum.

Classes are offered in 10-week sessions. Classes are age appropriate and focus on developing a child’s mind, body and self-confidence.
