Village write-in candidates have Sept. 2 deadline

The ballot is set for the Sept. 13 Village of Spring Lake election, but write-in candidates have until 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, to file a declaration-of-intent form. Village Councilman Jim MacLachlan is running unopposed for a two-year village president term. Village President Bill Filber said he decided to not run for re-election. Councilmen Stephen Nauta and David Bennett are seeking re-election to four-year council seats. No one is running for a third vacant four-year council term.
