Little Red House fundraiser to pay tribute to ‘Greatest Generation’

West Michigan residents will be transported back to the excitement and triumph of V-E Day at Bravo On the Boat 2011 - a fundraiser for The Little Red House Adult Day Care Services on Saturday, Sept. 24. Think Bob Hope, Andrews Sisters and Marlene Dietrich; flyboys and GIs; the Jitterbug and Lindy; and swinging to Big Band sounds. Bravo! On the Boat 2011 will take place aboard the USS LST-393 in Muskegon. The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails, and music from the Lakeshore Big Band. A strolling dinner will follow at 7 p.m.

The dress code for this event is “whatever floats your boat,” organizers say — military uniforms, “South Pacific” and Hawaiian shirts, or 1940s vintage chic. Ladies are asked to wear flat shoes as no heels are allowed on deck.

The setting for the September fundraiser will help pay tribute to the veterans — called the “Greatest Generation” — and to support The Little Red House Adult Day Care Services, a Spring Lake organization that provides nurturing care to these aging heroes.

Tickets to this event are $150 per person or $75 for dancing only at 9 p.m. Tables of eight are also available to sponsor for $2,500. Raffle tickets are being sold for $50 each for a $2,000 cash prize.

For more information, call The Little Red House at 846-5720.
