DDA updating recruiting and development tools

In an attempt to recruit more business to the city, the Grand Haven Main Street Downtown Development Authority is working to update its recruitment and business development tools. "We will be working with the DDA to update a marketing study done 4-5 years ago,' said Jay Schlinsog, owner and managing principal of Downtown Professionals Network. Schlinsog said his company has been hired by the Michigan Main Street Center to help the Grand Haven DDA update the study, and they will also be working to fine-tune business development strategies in the city, he said.

“This is our first visit,” Schlinsog said Monday. “We’ll be back in a month to go over marketing data.”

During the first visit to Grand Haven, Schlinsog said he took a driving tour of the area to get a feel for the community. He was also conducting a series of focus groups with residents living near the downtown area to get an idea of their thoughts about Grand Haven.
