“Wine tasting, a fashion show and auction — as well as hors d’oeuvres and music — make this an event you will not want to miss,” said Charisse Mitchell, executive director of Center for Women in Transition. “This is an important fundraiser for the center. Last year, the center served over 3,000 women and their children through various programs while dealing with cut backs from federal and state funding. The sponsors of the event donate a significant amount of money which helps to fund our services.”
The evening will begin at 4 p.m. with a champagne reception at Globe Design and Vision, 49 E. Eighth St. This is preceded by a trunk show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and featuring the eyeglass design firms of Etnia Barcelona and L.A. Eyeworks. The public is welcome to the trunk show and champagne reception.
Le Style de Vie will be held in a tent behind Butch’s, 44 E. Eighth St., beginning at 5 p.m.
Auction items will include a New Orleans-theme dinner for up to 12 guests at the home of longtime center supporters Dave and Jane Armstrong. The evening will feature gourmet seafood, live jazz in the tradition of Preservation Hall and theme beverages. A tour of the Armstrongs’ art collection at their home on Lake Macatawa is included.
Art for the auction includes a painting donated by Beth Charles, eye wear from Globe, wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres for 12 at Butch’s, and contemporary clothing from Studio K. The Armstrong De Graaf gallery is donating three selected pieces of art.
