Local dentist wants to give back to his community

Dr. Jared Van Ittersum has set some clear goals for himself. He wants to be part of the most technological dental practice in West Michigan. And he wants to be known as a dentist who is willing to give back to his community. Van Ittersum, 30, who grew up in Spring Lake, is well on his way to achieving those goals. He and his partner - Dr. Elias Achey - now own four family dental practices in West Michigan. Van Ittersum and Achey manage the Spring Lake Family Dentistry office at 102 Buchanan.

“Our big-picture goal is creating and redefining the best technology of dental practice,” Van Ittersum said.

While technology is a key element of Achey and Van Ittersum’s family practice, their missionary philosophy is just as important.

Van Ittersum and Achley, as well as four of their associates, will be offering a Free Dental Day on Sept. 17 in Muskegon and Whitehall. They will be providing free dental care to 150 people.
