Severe thunderstorm watch canceled

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has canceled a severe thunderstorm watch in effect today for West Michigan, including Ottawa County. The forecast for the Grand Haven-area today: Showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe. High near 81. East wind 5 to 9 mph becoming south. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2 am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Calm wind becoming south-southwest at 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.
