Kid Rock to headline Allegan County Fair

Anytime he performs in Michigan, Kid Rock said it's like playing a "hometown' show. "Michigan is always special. You're playing for Michigan people - it's great,' Kid Rock said Tuesday from Clarkston, a Detroit suberb.

Kid Rock — whose real name is Bob Ritchie — will be playing at the Allegan County Fair on Saturday as part of his “Born Free Tour” with Sheryl Crow. The pair has been on tour together since the beginning of July. Crow’s staged her last performance of the tour earlier this week in Houston, Kid Rock said.

The Allegan County show will be the last one of the “Born Free Tour.”

The show starts at 7 p.m., rain or shine. Tickets range from $65 to $85.

“(Michigan) is a great place to end a tour,” Kid Rock said. “It’s a dream gig for ending a tour.”

While Kid Rock — who is orginally from Romeo — has played in many cities throughout the state, including Grand Rapids, this will be his first time playing in Allegan County, the rocker said.

The Allegan County Fair begins Friday night and continues through Saturday, Sept. 17. Country singer Jason Aldean, who is nominated this year for CMA Entertainer of the Year, will perform at the fair on Sept. 15.
