40-acre rezoning request OK’d for blueberry fields

A local blueberry farm will add nearly 40 acres to its property. The Grand Haven Township Board on Monday unanimously approved a request from Dave and Kelley Reenders of True North Farms to rezone the acreage for blueberry fields.

The Reenderses — who also own Crossroads Blueberry Market, 14315 Lake Michigan Drive in Robinson Township — said they want to rezone the wooded properties from either rural preserve or rural residential to agricultural in order to expand their existing 300-acre blueberry farm. One of the requests is to divide an 11-acre parcel — with 4 acres being rezoned from rural preserve to agricultural, and 7 acres from rural preserve to rural residential.

All of the properties that the Reenderses are seeking to rezone are located on 144th Avenue, about a half-mile north of Lake Michigan Drive in Grand Haven Township.
