5-acre floral art exhibition this weekend

Prize-winning floral and multimedia artists from around the country will fill 5 acres of groomed woodland in Fruitport with massive floral and floral-related artwork later this month. "A World of Flowers: Cultures, Countries, Continents' will be open from 6-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4-7 p.m. on Sunday. The exhibit is sponsored by Nature's Creative Edge and is open to the public.

At least 30 artists will interpret the exhibition theme in the natural setting amid strategically placed spotlights and hundreds of flickering candles. Visitors are welcome to bring cameras.

Local floral artists include Alice Waterous of Grand Haven; Bob Friese of Fruitport, host; Skeeter Parkhouse, manager of the Eastern Floral shop in Grand Haven; and multimedia artist James Lutke of Spring Lake.

Tickets are available in Grand Haven at The Calico Cat, Grand Haven Garden House and Hidden Grove Greenhouse; as well as at Eastern Floral in Grand Haven, Grand Rapids, Holland and Spring Lake. Tickets are also available online at www.showclix.com.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and free for children age 12 and under.

The exhibition benefits the education funds of the North Central Regional Chapter of the American Institute of Floral Designers.

Transportation to the exhibit will be by free shuttle at the corner of Sternberg Road and Hilton Park Road in Fruitport.
