‘See You at the Pole’ set for Sept. 28

First Priority of the Lakeshore is organizing student prayer around local school flag poles for later this month. "See You at the Pole,' the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grassroots movement with 10 students praying at their school. Twenty years later, millions are expected to pray on their campuses around their flagpoles at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28.

“See You at the Pole” is a Christian prayer rally in which students meet at the school flag pole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school and nation to God. It is a student-initiated, student-organized and student-led event.

First Priority of the Lakeshore, located in Grand Haven, sponsors this event each year for the high schools and middle schools of Spring Lake, Grand Haven and Fruitport. This year’s theme is “Converge:  Come together, unite, connect.”

All students are encouraged to come and pray before school with their friends, youth pastors and school faculty. Donuts and juice will be provided, courtesy of First Priority of the Lakeshore and Meijer.

“Be a part of something much bigger than your own local campus,” said Randy White, executive director of First Priority of the Lakeshore. “Be encouraged, challenged and blessed to experience what God is doing globally. Regardless of the church group or the school peer group you are a part of, gather with everyone and pray.”

First Priority is a multi-denominational, student-led middle and high school campus outreach ministry. It exists as an extension of the local church to encourage, equip and empower students to reach their campuses for Jesus Christ.
