Community Garden meeting is Saturday morning

As the end of the first season for Community Garden No. 1 winds down, it is time to start planning and preparing for next season. There will be a meeting and work session at 9 a.m. Saturday at the garden, located behind The Salvation Army building, 310 N. Despelder St. in Grand Haven.

At this meeting, current and new gardeners can reserve up to two plots per family, depending on availability, for a donation of $20 per plot. Each plot is a raised bed measuring 4-by-8-feet, which is planted and tended by the family that reserves it. Each family uses the produce from their plot and is encouraged to donate any excess to The Salvation Army or other charity.

After the meeting, members will clear the garden of this year’s plants to prepare for next year.
