The senators said the South Haven South Pierhead lighthouse will be transferred to the Historical Association of South Haven, Middle Island will be transferred to Middle Island Lightkeepers Association Inc. and the Waugoshance Lighthouse will be transferred to the Waugoshance Lighthouse Preservation Society.

The National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act established an expedited Government Services Agency process for transferring ownership of lighthouses from the U.S. Coast Guard to other agencies and nonprofit organizations.
