‘Detroit’s Jazz Age’ to be heard at SL library

"Detroit's Jazz Age' is the inspiration for the performance of classic Detroit jazz music at Spring Lake District Library from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16. Sax master George Benson will be accompanied by musicians Jim Cooper, Joe Oprea and Mike Van Lente. Each song will be introduced by WBLV-FM jazz expert Lazaro Vega. The program is free and the public is invited to attend. It is funded in part by the Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Arts.

“Detroit’s Jazz Age” is one of four programs Spring Lake District Library will be hosting in support of the Great Michigan Read book, “Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race,

Civil Rights and Murder in the Jazz Age” by Kevin Boyle. Additional events are scheduled for Oct. 12 and 25, and Nov. 2.
