The nonprofit housing service Dwelling Place opened its first apartment complex in the Tulip City. Midtown Village is the transformation of the former E.E. Fell Junior High School, a building that hadn’t been in use for more than 20 years.
The 30 units, located in a neighborhood near 16th Street, are available for people over the age of 55.
Tuesday, an open house was held for the $5.9 million dollar renovation project. City leaders said they hope the opening has a positive affect in the area.
“We’ve had nothing but positive comments,” said Dwelling Place CEO David Sturtevant.
