Wind advisory

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a wind advisory for West Michigan, including Ottawa County, in effect from 2 p.m. today to 8 p.m. Thursday. North winds will increase today, occasionally gusting to 45 mph by this afternoon. The strong winds are expected to continue to increase tonight into Thursday, with gusts as high as 55 mph possible. Tree limbs may be downed due to the strong winds. Scattered power outages could also occur.

A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or gusts between 45 and 57 mph can be expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
