This year marks the 15th anniversary of the annual auction. It is the largest fundraising event benefiting St. Mary’s Parish School, and St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s Catholic churches. Funds go to parishioners needing tuition assistance in order to receive a Catholic education in the Tri-Cities.
The event at St. Mary’s Church Activity Center in Spring Lake will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person and may be obtained by calling school at 842-1282.
A special Preview and Family Night is planned for Thursday, Nov. 3, at the St. Mary’s Parish Activity Center. The event from 5:30-8:30 p.m. is free, includes several activities for children, plus opportunities for adults to view live and silent auction items prior to attending the main event on Nov. 5.
Each class in the school works on a project that is auctioned off by silent auction. Items included in the auction typically include handmade mosaic pieces, paintings, collectible items and handmade quilts.
Some of the featured items in this year’s live auction will include: a weekend stay at Crystal Mountain with ski passes, charter fishing trip aboard the Hitman, use of a condominium in Frankfort, Grand Rapids Griffins game tickets and private suite for 16 people, children’s birthday party for 15 at John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids, bathroom upgrade package, car care package, paddleboard with paddle and leash, use of a condo at Sutton’s Bay in the summer, a week in paradise at Sanibel Island, Fla., a gourmet dinner for 10, and an adventure party for 20.
“The Tri-Cities Unity Auction takes a year to plan because of the acquisition process,” said Aimee Alban, event chairwoman. “We would like to invite anyone from the community who would like to join us to call and reserve your tickets today.”
The 2010 Tri-Cities Unity Auction raised about $53,000.
