Both Geri McCaleb and write-in candidate Ken Sharkey will participate in the candidates forum, which takes place at 7 p.m. in the Escanaba Room.
McCaleb is a former member of Grand Haven City Council and Sharkey owns Commercial Contractors Inc.
The two are looking to fill the seat currently held by Mayor Roger Bergman. Bergman announced earlier this year that he would not run for re-election after serving on City Council for the past 12 years.
According to event organizers, the format of the forum will consist of each candidate providing a two-minute introduction, followed by a series of predetermined questions that each candidate will answer and then have time for rebuttal. Each candidate will have a one-minute closing statement.
There is also expected to be time for audience participation.
The forum, which is being presented by the Chamber of Commerce Grand Haven-Spring Lake-Ferrysburg, the Grand Haven Tribune, and the League of Women Voters, will just feature mayoral candidates; it will not have City Council candidates Mike Fritz or John Hierholzer, who are running unopposed in the Nov. 8 election. It will also not include Board of Light & Power candidates Gerry Witherell, Larry Kieft and Michael Ciofu, who are vying for two seats on the BLP.
