Library fines to be waived for donations

Neighbor helping neighbor is part of the mission statement of The People Center in Spring Lake. Spring Lake District Library is taking that sentiment to heart and will be hosting a fine amnesty week beginning Monday, Nov. 14, to encourage donations to The People Center.

Those who donate new paper products or personal care items at the library Nov. 14-20 can get up to $10 in library fines waived. For each regular-size item donated (no sample sizes), library patrons may have $1 deducted from their overdue fine total. The maximum amount of overdue fines that will be waived is $10. Patrons must still return any overdue items and pay for lost or damaged items.

Also consider making a donation if you don’t have library fines that could be waived.
