New mayors will be elected in both cities today, as incumbent mayors Roger Bergman (Grand Haven) and Jeff Stille (Ferrysburg) are not seeking re-election.
In Grand Haven, candidate Geri McCaleb and write-in candidates Ken Sharkey and Chris Collette are running for mayor. In Ferrysburg, candidates John Stafford and Dan Ruiter are running for mayor.

Residents in both communities will also vote for city council members — all of whom are running unopposed.

Voters will also be asked to elect two candidates to the Board of Light & Power; and in Ferrysburg, voters will be asked if they want to approve a motorized equipment millage designed to provide funds to replace police, fire and public service vehicles.

The results of the elections will be posted here sometime after the polls close tonight at 8.

It is possible Grand Haven mayoral results may not be available until later this week if there are more write-in votes for candidates not printed on the ballot. Officials would need to verify whether votes were for certified write-in candidates.
