Sarah Smith, a teacher and educational liaison for the hospital, works with young patients to keep them up to speed on their schoolwork. School Zone recently donated hundreds of workbooks, flash cards and readers to help out.

“We are grateful School Zone is providing us educational resources as we care for our patients and their families during their hospitalization,” Smith said. “The initial donation has already been put to good use.”

Jonathan Hoffman, president and CEO of School Zone Publishing, said it’s vital for his company to help patients at the children’s hospital.

“It is without hesitation to give to a child in need,” Hoffman said.

Smith said many times a school will send curriculum to the hospital for patients to work on, but there are times when resources are needed more immediately.
