“We have had a look at this over the past several months,” City Planner Kristin Keery said.

On Tuesday, the Planning Commission unanimously approved sending the ordinance to council.

Currently, the city’s ordinances only has language governing the installation and placement of fences. The concept to introduce a new ordinance was officially introduced to planning commissioners during their meeting on Aug. 9.

The proposed change came about after the review of a Highland Drive retaining wall, in which planning commissioners expressed frustration that there wasn’t the ability to review large retaining walls and request detailed plans for them.
