Dec 1, 2011

“Internet Safety Presentation for Parents and Adults” is sponsored by Grand Haven Area Public Schools and the Michigan Cyber Safety Initiative.

UPDATE (Dec. 1): A representative from Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette's office will present the seminar.

Parents and adults will learn how to access the Michigan Sex Offender Registry and sign up to receive e-mail updates, as well as how to obtain reliable information on parental control software. Attendees will also receive instructions for using online tutorials on how to search and access your child’s social networking sites, view Internet history logs to determine where your children have been online, and access and modify settings for safer surfing on web search engines.

In addition, GHAPS has scheduled cyber-bullying presentations for students at several of its schools during assemblies for the week of Dec. 5. The assemblies are part of a Cyber Safety Initiative campaign to educate students about Internet safety developed by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.
