The local summer festival took first for Best Website Design and Best Partnership.

The website award was based on the best display of information offered, ease of navigation and presentation.

The partnership award was for the festival’s work with the North Ottawa County Council on Aging in producing the Coast Guard Festival Senior Day this past Aug. 3. Festival officials said more than 600 senior citizens participated in activities and eight local businesses sponsored the inaugural event.

The Coast Guard Festival also took second place in the Event Photograph Collage category, third place awards in Event Photograph and Print Ad displays, and fifth place for its 2011 brochure.

Seventy-two entries from throughout the state entered the competition. The awards were presented Nov. 4 at the Michigan Festivals & Events Association’s annual convention, held in Kalamazoo.
