Muskegon hires new public safety director

The city of Muskegon has a new director of public safety.

Jeffery Lewis will replace Tony Kleibecker, who took a job with Michigan State University in September.

Lewis will start work with the city on Jan. 3. His responsibilities will include managing Muskegon’s police, fire and inspection departments.

Lewis currently works as the police chief of Milan. He has 20 years experience with the Michigan State Police.
