“It’s a great honor to be selected by my peers as the president-elect,” Janson said. “Next year, I plan to focus our efforts on building our membership and keeping our organization active in our community.”
Janson, the assistant to the Grand Haven city manager, moved to Grand Haven in 2009 and joined the Jaycees in 2010.
“I continue to have a wonderful time working on our projects throughout the year, especially flag setting during national holidays,” he said.
Janson noted that the Grand Haven Area Jaycees have several events throughout the year — including the Christmas Tree Pickup, Glow in the Dark Golf, Holiday Flag Setting, Wheels of Grand Haven Car Show and membership events.
“Our biggest challenge this year will be funding Grand Haven’s Fourth of July fireworks,” Janson said. “This fireworks show draws thousands of people from nearby communities into Grand Haven. To continue this excellent show, we will be looking to the community for assistance in keeping this highly visible event alive.”
Janson said the fireworks show provides Grand Haven with a significant boost in foot traffic and sales downtown.
Other returning board members include Tony Mausen, chairman; Nicole Rant, treasurer and rental/chapter manager; and Annie Nurski, management vice president.
