The Township Board on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution that eliminates any COLA expenses for township officials who serve on the township’s board, commissions or committees.

The elimination of COLA will save the township a minimum of $1,660 in 2012, according to Township Manager Bill Cargo.

Board members discussed the COLA issue earlier this month when they approved the township’s $8.92 million budget for 2012. Several members did not feel they should be given the 2.75-percent cost-of-living increase.

At the Nov. 28 meeting, Cargo explained that while the COLA was included in the 2012 budget, it had to be separately voted by the board in a resolution.
