Food truck donations need help

A drive by Love INC to support and feed those in need during the coming year is itself in need of support from the community.

Love INC Tri-Cities Executive Director Eric Morgan said the agency is looking for donations for food trucks for the year, but officials say donations aren’t where they need to be.

“We’ve scheduled 24 trucks and we don’t have enough to cover next year,” Morgan said.

In addition to working with other partners to bring food trucks to the community, Love INC has partnered with the Grand Haven Tribune to raise money for the trucks.

Last year, Love INC raised more than $5,200 — enough for seven food trucks — through donations with the Tribune.

According to Morgan, people line up as early as 3 a.m. to wait for food at the trucks during their scheduled deliveries during the year. He said this is regardless of rain, snow or other inclement weather.

Morgan said he has also noticed longer lines than in the past at the food trucks.

The best way for people to donate money to the food truck, Morgan said, is to use the donation coupon in the Grand Haven Tribune. For those that donate by Wednesday, Morgan said names will be recognized on a page in the paper.

“It’s really cool because it fills up a page on Christmas Eve,” Morgan said.
