Jacob has fallen to No. 4 on the top boys’ names list, while Emma slipped to third place for girls.
The list comes from the Spectrum Health Family Birthplace at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, which claims to deliver more babies than any other hospital in Michigan — 7,312 births in its fiscal year 2011. Of that total, 3,867 were boys and 3,445 were girls.
If it’s any consolation, Emma and Jacob can still claim to be the top names for the past decade — ranking No. 1 in 2010, 2009, 2006, 2004, 2003 and 2002.
The top 10 names for boys in 2011 at Butterworth were, in order: Mason, Lucas, Jackson, William, Jacob, Logan, Alexander, Samuel, Noah and Carter. Last year, the top 10 boys names were: Jacob, Ethan, Jackson, Alexander, Elijah, Mason, Tyler, Noah, Owen and Samuel.
