About 1,000 people turned out, many in spring jackets, to tour the 18 venues that participated in the juried art show and wine-tasting extravaganza hosted by the Grand Haven Main Street Downtown Development Authority.

“This gets people out and makes them more familiar with downtown merchants,” said volunteer John Riepma as he sold tickets at The Gallery Uptown, 201 Washington Ave. “A lot of people aren’t in the habit of coming downtown to shop. This gets them out here.”

Grand Haven resident Becky Sanchez said she visited about 10 venues Friday night.

“There’s nothing to whine about outside, which makes it all the better,” Sanchez said. “With wine and art, what more do you need?”

Grand Haven Township resident Nancy Jordan toured the town with cousin Vicki Kruse of Fort Wayne, Ind., and future daughter-in-law Kelsey Lemahieu of Spring Lake.
