A standing committee has been developed from people from the participating entities in the downtown area to help with the implementation of the Grand Haven Principal Shopping District, Grand Haven Main Street Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Dana Kollewehr said.

“We felt, based on feedback, that people wanted another option or additional input on how the revenue is spent,” Kollewehr said, referencing the initial creation of the PSD in 2011.

DDA officials are working with a prorated amount of $52,000 for this year’s PSD budget.

It is prorated due to the PSD being approved midway through the fiscal year. In subsequent years, officials will be working with about $76,000 to accomplish marketing and promotional goals.

The PSD is made up of core businesses located within the first three blocks of Washington Avenue in downtown Grand Haven, and the rest of the DDA district, which makes up the non-core.

The special PSD assessment will help DDA officials achieve their goal of marketing and promoting the DDA district through branding, special events, beautification of public spaces, and the production of print and other marketing materials.
