Marina rates on City Council agenda

Grand Haven City Council will be mulling changes to the city's marina rates during its meeting Monday night.

The action comes after a meeting on Jan. 3 when council postponed a decision to raise rates by 2.65 percent — bringing slips for charter owners to $4,078 — for seasonal slips, as well as a 1.15-percent increase for transient slips at the marina.

Several ideas being presented to council by city officials includes a modified 2012 rate of $5,000 with a $1,000 refund for complete performance of obligations by charter boat captains (on time payments, compliance with lease provisions). The effective rate would then be $4,000 in 2012 (a $54 increase)

Another proposed option includes a multi-year approval on Monday evening, setting the rates at $5,000 (with $1,000 refunds) for a three-year period.

Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 519 Washington Ave.
