Village staff noticed settling of the structure in 2007 and an engineering study was done a year later. The original plan was to replace the dock in 2015, but it was settling was worse than anticipated.
The dock was closed in September 2011 when it was deemed unsafe for public use. It is mainly used for fishing and as an observation deck.
The village’s Public Improvement Fund will pay for the repairs and any excess costs will come out of the village’s general fund, according to Village Manager Ryan Cotton.
