The National Weather Service said total snowfall of 2-5 inches is expected by mid-morning. With the snow tapering off, roads will remain slick. Wind gusts near 30 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow, with visibilities below a half-mile and briefly near zero at times.

Driving conditions are expected to improve by late morning.

The forecast for the Grand Haven area today: Snow showers likely and areas of blowing snow. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 19 by 5 p.m. Blustery, with a northwest wind between 21 and 29 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of around 2 inches.

Tonight: A 50-percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13. Northwest wind between 8 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Friday: Snow. High near 21. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of around 3 inches.
