Violinist to perform at Loutit library on Sunday

Gregory Maytan, professor of violin at Grand Valley State University, will perform Feb. 12 as part of the Sunday Concert Series at Loutit District Library.

The free performance begins at 2 p.m. on the library’s upper level lobby.

Concert-goers are invited to come early due to limited seating. The library opens at 1 p.m. on Sundays.

Maytan joined GVSU in 2010 after having served four years as an assistant professor at Valparaiso University. He performs regularly as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician.

Maytan has performed extensively in Europe and the U.S., playing about 50 recitals a year.

He is currently performing on a Giovanni Grancino violin from 1694, which is on loan.
