Slagh was elected county treasurer in 2008 after first being selected by the County Elections Commission to fill the vacant position in 2007.

“I appreciate the trust the citizens placed in me when electing me in 2008, and I believe the improvements and enhanced efficiencies within the office over the past four years validate their vote,” Slagh said Tuesday.

Slagh serves in various leadership roles at First Reformed Church in Zeeland. He also serves as the secretary of the Board for Michigan C.L.A.S.S., a $260 million statewide investment pool, and on the Ottawa County Republican Party Executive Committee.

Prior to being the country treasurer, Slagh was the Zeeland Township supervisor for five years and spent 18 years in community banking.

He and his wife, Carol, have been married 26 years. They have three adult children.
