Based on the classic 1954 novel by William Golding and adapted for stage by Nigel Williams, “Lord of the Flies” will be performed by two separate casts.

The male cast performances are at 7:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, and the female cast performances are at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

All performances will be held at the West Ottawa Performing Arts Center, behind the Harbor Lights Middle School, on the corner of Riley Street and 136th Avenue in Holland Township..

“When casting the show,” director Joe Huber said, “it was difficult to determine how to intermix the male and female actors into one cast. Boys and girls often harass and bully in very different ways. Boys tend to be more direct and physical, and girls are more exclusive and psychological. Therefore, the decision was made to use two separate casts: one female and one male. The dramatic results of that decision are quite noticeable.”

All tickets are $7 for reserved seating and can be purchased at the PAC box office (616-786-1051) or online at www.westottawadramaboosters.org.
