Botanical specialist to talk about Grand River Greenway

Naturalist Bill Martinus will talk about the outstanding physical features of Ottawa County, and the wide diversity of plant and animal life found here, at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The program is part of the yearlong celebration of the Grand River Greenway. It will take place in Program Room A of Loutit District Library, 407 Columbus Ave.

Martinus is a botanical specialist for Aamazon Natural Resources Consulting LLC. He has conducted extensive plant and animal surveys of the Grand River corridor that included the identification, classification and mapping of ecosystem communities. He has inventoried historic sites and relics found along the Grand River Greenway, and led dozens of field trips into these wetland areas. He is affiliated with numerous Audubon societies, the Land Conservancy of West Michigan and the Michigan Archaeological Society, and serves on the state board of the Michigan Botanical Club.
