State Sen. Arlan Meekhof, R-West Olive, invited the congressman to testify before the Michigan Senate Committee on Government Operations. The committee is considering a state House resolution pushing Congress to adopt the amendment and submit it to the states for ratification.

Huizenga said he fully supports this initiative and voted for it in the U.S. House.

“The state of Michigan balances its budget during difficult times,” Huizenga said. “West Michigan families and businesses must balance what they make with what they spend. It is time the federal government does the same.”

The testimony at the state Capitol is scheduled for 11 a.m.
