“There has been a lot of interest and a lot of enthusiasm,” said Charles Steen, who has proposed the race for 2013 or 2014.

So far, Steen has held two design meetings — the most recent one on Tuesday night — at the Grand Haven Community Center.

“I’ve been extremely pleased,” he said. “The people have been very interested in the process.”

To gain additional input, Steen has planned a meeting for March 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Center. Once this is done, officials will have a final presentation to community members.

“We’re going to try and do a wrap-up meeting on March 29 from 7-8:30 p.m.,” Steen said.

City Council gave authorization to Steen to begin studying the race earlier this year, and he was given a deadline of the first week of July to come up with results of the study to give to council.
