WOOD-TV reported the driver parked her bus at Belding Middle School last week after drop-off, but didn’t notice that the 4-year-old was still on board.

The driver was temporarily placed on suspension.

The Belding school district said the boy was alone for about a half-hour before someone spotted him trying to get off the bus.

His father, Raymond Boyd, said he feels badly the driver was suspended. Boyd said “humans make mistakes.”

Boyd said his son is fine.

The Belding superintendent said the bus driver made a mistake and has an otherwise excellent record.

I realize the drivers are suppose to do a full search of the bus before putting the "Bus Empty" sign in the rear window. But how are they suppose to know to look under the seats. Come on Belding superintendent if that driver has an otherwise excellent record, then why would you feel the need to suspended the driver. that would be like punishing your own child for not finding your phone in your car as it fell under the seat when you dropped it.
