Appetizers and beverages will be served.

Cotton will start his new position as Holland city manager on March 27. His last day with the village is March 26.

“We're going to miss him,” said Village President Jim MacLachlan. “He's been a fabulous manager for the village. He kept a steady hand at the wheel during some difficult financial times and he was able to keep our financial ship afloat during a difficult period. He was a real team player and worked well with council.”

Cotton, 52, has served as village manager since 2002.

The Spring Lake/Ferrysburg police chief is serving as interim village manager until a replacement can be found. A national search is under way and a new manager is expected to be in place sometime in June. The application deadline is April 12.

“We hope to find somebody to replace Ryan who will embody many of the qualities he had,” MacLachlan said. “He was a tireless worker. I would drive by the office at 5:30 in the morning and his car would be there.”
