60 talk taxes

Lively and animated conversations took place Tuesday night at the second gathering of the West Michigan Civil Conversation Project.
Mar 22, 2012

The topic? “Taxes: Who benefits? Who pays?”

The monthly gatherings provide a guided process in which participants share their views, respond to others’ views and participate in unstructured conversation on a single topic. The goal is not to come to consensus, but to promote listening and learning, and to strike a balance between inquiry and advocacy in conversations among those with differing viewpoints.

About 60 people turned out for the tax discussion, which was hosted at Loutit District Library.

The next conversation will be 7 p.m. April 17 at the library. The topic will be ”Corporations and Individuals: Where is the Balance of Power?”
