The "Inside the Grand Haven Area" videos highlight local businesses and several nonprofit organizations. The visitors bureau's executive director, Marci Cisneros, said there is a total of 10 videos in the series.

Former visitors bureau intern and Grand Haven resident Jon Roost was responsible for the creation of the series.

“I absolutely loved working with the local businesses,” he said. “As a new resident of the area, the biggest reward was for me to learn a lot about the city and surrounding area I now call home, and get involved in that community.”

Roost was named Student Intern of the Year by Grand Valley State University’s hospitality and tourism management department for his role in creating the video series.

“He is very deserving,” Cisneros said. “The skill sets he brought to our organization were a great fit at a great time. We all worked well together and accomplished a lot during his internship.”

Roost has since graduated from GVSU with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management. Hospitality majors are required to complete three field internships as part of their studies.

“It’s the software piece and the editing of it that is difficult,” she said, adding that the intern was able to perform many of these duties.

Sometimes the work is conceived as a multiple-film work, for example the Three Colours series, but in most cases the success of the original film inspires further films to be made. Individual sequels are relatively common, but are not always successful enough to spawn further installments. -Reputation Repair
