Irish music concert at Chinook Pier

A traditional Irish music band will serenade skaters, walkers and boaters along Grand Haven's Chinook Pier from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 12.

The group is a representation of the Irish session musicians who meet on the third Saturday of the month at Loutit District Library.

Group members include: Grand Haven High School Irish fiddle group members Justin Merriman on banjo and viola, Katie Balkema on violin, and Jena Groshek on violin; Mona Shores Fiddlers alumna Courtney Hutson on violin and vocals; retired Mona Shores Fiddlers director Timothy Staudacher on mandolin; retired Mona Shores Fiddlers instructor David Closz on guitar and vocals; and Loutit District Library’s Larry Halverson on penny whistle.

The group will perform in front of the Celtic Seasons store at Chinook Pier to promote Irish music throughout the area.
