MAILBAG: Where are the help wanted ads?

"What happened to the want ads?" Kim of West Olive asked. "They haven't been in the paper for over three days?"

ANSWER:

Good question, Kim. I've noticed the help wanted ads have disappeared this past week, too.

So I asked the Tribune's friendly classified ads representative, Audra Fitzpatrick.

"I think the employers just didn't want to run ads on the Fourth of July week," she explained. "It is typical for employment ad numbers to drop around the holidays.

"I've received several help wanted ads since Monday, so they will be returning shortly," she said Wednesday afternoon.

Thanks, Audra, that's good to know. I think we're all still a little antsy about the economy and job market.
