Hoekstra has been calling for six debates with the two-term Democrat from Lansing.

Details have not been finalized, but Stabenow's campaign said she has accepted invitations from the Detroit Economic Club and Grand Valley State University.

Hoekstra, who won the GOP nomination, has not agreed to Stabenow's proposed one-hour debates. Campaign spokesman Greg VanWoerkom said in a statement Stabenow is "hiding from the public" and her political record.

Stabenow has four times the available campaign cash as Hoekstra.

Tri-cities realist

Why would she want to air her failed record, as well as the failure of her senate democrats, over1000 days without a budget proposal. It's a wonder that they havent been thrown out of office yet.

1,000 days without a budget proposal is not true. President Obama submitted budgets for 2010, 2011, 2012. The budgets were based in part on ending the 2002 temporary tax cuts on people with incomes over $250,000, and Republicans, having pledged an oath to Grover Norquist to not "raise" taxes for any reason, would not work with Democrats to pass any of the budgets Obama submitted. They put their allegiance to some guy over their oath of office to serve the citizens of the US. Regarding Debbie Stabenow, please give us some specifics on what you consider her failed record. I find she has an outstanding record of working for Michigan, especially in the areas of agriculture and jobs. Now Pete, on the other hand, not so much. He was all about taking the US into 2 wars ( which were NEVER included as part of any budget), tax cuts for his wealthy constituents, and deregulation of the financial industry.....and look what THAT gave us! A debt explosion and the biggest financial and economic meltdown since 1932. Now THAT'S a failed record. Oh, and by the way, since you seem to like repeating urban myths, did you know that Obama has spent LESS as president than any president in the last 40 years. Clinton is next, with Ronald Reagan the biggest spender. All info easily found on neutral websites.
