Chiropractors Matt Dirkse and Mike Weiss will host a Community Wellness Day from 12-3 p.m. Saturday behind the Village Baker, 617 E. Savidge St.

More than 20 vendors will be there to educate the community about financial, physical, mental and environmental health. There will also be face painting, a bounce house, and fire and police demonstrations.

Dirkse said each year they select a nonprofit organization to receive proceeds from the event. This year’s recipient is the Rett Syndrome Foundation.

Last year’s event drew about 400 people, and they hope to double that number this year, Dirkse said.

Dirkse, owner of Healthzone Chiropractic in Grand Haven, said he and Weiss believe a community grows healthier when families begin healthy habits together.

“The idea is to help people have access and learn what resources are out there,” Dirkse said.

Weiss, owner of Weiss Chiropractic Wellness Center in Spring Lake, encourages residents to attend Saturday's event because they want to make it fun while learning ways to improve health and quality of life.

"I think everyone will leave with something they can do to improve their life in some way,” he added.
