Dense fog advisory

A dense fog advisory is in effect for Ottawa County and much of West Michigan until 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids said visibilities of a quarter-mile or less will develop tonight.

Fruitport Schools closed due to dense fog this morning.

Impacts:

— Reduced traffic speeds.

— Potential of not being able to see kids waiting at bus stops on Wednesday morning. Fortunately, some schools are already closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.

— When driving, slow down, use low beam headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

The forecast for the Grand Haven area tonight:

Areas of fog after 2 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday: Areas of fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 53. Light southwest wind becoming south-southwest 6 to 11 mph in the afternoon.
